Plot

Pretty, slim, popular and athletic Ally has been banking on a softball scholarship as her ticket to college. She breaks her leg during a softball game being watched by a scout and loses her chance at the scholarship. The teen enters a documentary film contest in hopes of using the prize money for her education. Convinced that her overweight mother and younger brother use their struggles with weight as an excuse for everything wrong in their lives, Ally decides to go undercover wearing a fat suit and hidden camera to prove personality can outshine physical appearance. She meets two unlikely friends, one being overweight, who confides in Ally about problems with weight and the social aspects of being overweight. Ally searches for the ending for her documentary and decides to confront her friends with a fat Ally at a party, same personality but different looks. The friends not recognizing her make fun of her as a fat girl. She ends up pulling off her "fat mask" and confronting her friends at the party. She has a heart to heart talk with her mother and they both end up seeing each other's point of view and appear to be heading to a better relationship. Ally's conclusion to the documentary is that family, friends and society will dictate who you are unless you tell them otherwise.
